Since the age of 19, coaching robotics has been one of my most significant and rewarding roles. Over the past eight years, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative impact that competitive robotics can have on young people. For me, coaching is about more than technical guidance—it’s about supporting others, elevating them, and helping them realize their potential. Competitive robotics allows me to mentor students in a challenging environment that fosters resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork, as well as the psychological elements of competition. Each competition becomes a journey, not only of strategy and skill but also of self-discovery and growth.
Under my guidance, teams have achieved impressive milestones, including dozens of awards and recognitions at local, national, and international levels. At VEX Worlds, teams have reached division finalist and champion status, earned the Excellence and Innovate Awards, and have won multiple state championships and signature events. Seeing students take their skills to such levels of excellence has been both inspiring and humbling, affirming the value of robotics as an outlet for young people to learn, compete, and grow. Each award reflects not only the students’ hard work and determination but also the strength of a supportive and collaborative coaching relationship.
